"Balance"

The most obvious thing about "Balance" is that her pendulum comes out from above instead of hanging down below. As you know, pendulums don't work like that! Even coumpound pendulum clocks! "Balance" is a unique, easy-to-build compound pendulum clock, with a very unusual look. Her short 30" pendulum still produces a seconds beat, as well as a nice bobbing motion way up above the clock. "Balance" also sports a unique Daisy dial train for moving her hands. Instead of using the usual gears to turn her hour hand, the hour hand is run by a cam that lifts and then drops it over each of the "petals" of the Daisy. I was amazed at how flawlessly the Daisy operates. I liked it so much on my "Radiance" clock that I wanted to use it on "Balance," too. The"Balance" clock plan also includes a pattern for a standard seconds pendulum - the kind that hangs straight down. It's like getting two clocks in one! |
